With 8 AFC Player of the Week awards, a Buffalo Bills player has earned the award in more than half of the weeks this season.
Being a Buffalo Bills fan this season has been one to celebrate — not just for the team’s success but also for their individual successes on the field. Through 15 weeks, the Bills have racked up an incredible eight AFC Player of the Week awards plus the Offensive Player of the Month award in September. Let’s put that into perspective: out of the 45 awards handed out in AFC (42 if you subtract the bye week), 19% have gone to Buffalo. That’s a testament to the talent this roster continues to bring week after week.
Leading the award recipients is none other than Josh Allen, who was just named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after his performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 15. Allen put on a clinic, now 3 weeks in a row, showcasing why he remains one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league and is a frontrunner for league MVP. This wasn’t his first recognition this year — he also earned the award in Week 3 and Week 13.
But Allen isn’t the only Bill grabbing headlines. This season’s honors have been a full-team effort, with contributions coming from every phase of the game:
This type of recognition highlights how well-rounded this Bills team is. While Allen understandably gets much of the spotlight, the defense and special teams have played critical roles in keeping Buffalo competitive this year.
For comparison, the next closest team in the AFC is the Baltimore Ravens, with five Player of the Week awards. Of those, three have gone to Lamar Jackson, while two were awarded to Derrick Henry.
As we head into the final stretch of the season, it’s clear that the Bills have the talent to keep making waves. With this level of individual excellence paired with a team mentality, there’s no telling how far they’ll go.
