Aaron Rodgers took his time, but the star quarterback will play football in 2025, barring something unforeseen, and will do so wearing the Pittsburgh Steelers uniform following a failed stint with the New York Jets.

Rodgers has signed a one-year deal with the Steelers worth $13.65 million, which includes $10 million in guaranteed money. The deal could still see him rake in as much as $19.5 million, as it’s tied to an extra $5.85 million in incentives.

There was some intrigue over which number Aaron would wear in Pittsburgh, and the team has since unveiled it. A post shared on Saturday afternoon shows him wearing their threads and the No. 8.

Rodgers wore the No. 12 jersey during his time with the Green Bay Packers, but the Steelers typically don’t let anyone have it because it was worn by four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Terry Bradshaw, who has made no secret of his disdain for Rodgers in the past.

The Steelers haven’t officially retired Bradshaw’s number, but it’s well known that no one is getting it out of respect for what he did for the team.

Aaron Rodgers Going Back To A Familiar Number

It appears that A-Rod will be wearing the No. 8, which he wore in college and with the New York Jets over the past two seasons, though he didn’t have much of a first season with them due to injury.

Steelers punter Corliss Waitman had the No. 8, so it’s likely that Rodgers had to do some negotiating.

In any case, Terry Bradshaw would have never forgiven the team had they given Aaron Rodgers his old No. 12.
