While there were plenty of doubters who thought his career was done after two tough seasons with the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers has helped revitalize the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ offense. Sure, acquiring D.K. Metcalf has helped, but after trading George Pickens, there’s clearly room for another playmaker in Pittsburgh’s passing offense.
Steelers trade rumors have pointed to them acquiring a complementary pass-catcher from the moment they traded Pickens. Now, with the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline lurking right around the corner, the Steelers may be prepared to take action.
Recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler went so far as to predict that the Steelers would wind up trading for Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders.
Meyers requested a trade out of Vegas before the season even started. Despite the 28-year-old being in the final year of his contract, the Raiders weren’t willing to deal him. With the trade deadline looming and the Raiders sitting at 2-5, Meyers has since doubled down on his desire to be traded before the season ends.
Coming off a career-high 1,027 receiving yards, Meyers is still producing at a high level this season too. He’s averaging 54.8 yards per game, putting him on pace to finish with 876 yards. Those numbers may decline in Pittsburgh, where he’ll play second fiddle to Metcalf, but at least he’d have a chance at playing in the postseason for the second time in his career and first time since 2021.
