Pittsburgh Steelers ‘Looking for a Receiver’ Before NFL Trade Deadline

Entering Week 7 at 4-1 with the NFL’s 14th-ranked scoring offense and 15th-ranked defense, it’s hard not to be in love with the start of the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ season. Aaron Rodgers is playing efficiently, he’s getting the ball out on time, and Mike Tomlin’s decisions are as sound as ever.

Now that the Steelers appear to be back in position to snag the AFC North divisional crown for the first time since 2020 (when they still had Ben Roethlisberger), it’s time to capitalize on Pittsburgh’s momentum.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter‘s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the Steelers are “looking for a receiver” ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

If so, there are a number of players expected to be available.

The Las Vegas Raiders just won on Sunday, but Jakobi Meyers is one to monitor after the one-time 1,000-yard receiver requested a trade before the season kicked off. But he’s not alone.

Other players who could be available after their respective teams’ rough starts include Miami’s Jaylen Waddle, New Orleans’ Chris Olave, and, if things get really ugly, maybe even Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins.

Yet, for now, some of these players seem like pipe dreams. Though with DK Metcalf locked in as Pittsburgh’s No. 1 receiver, even finding a more consistent complementary weapon could significantly upgrade the Steelers’ offense.

The 2025 NFL trade deadline is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4, just after Week 9, giving the Steelers plenty of time to get all their ducks in a row.
