The Pittsburgh Steelers are trying their best to calm the fan base as many of them took issue with players showing up to President Donald Trump’s speech at the U.S. Steel plant in Pennsylvania on Friday.

The presence of at least two current players and one high-profile former player at a rally staged by President Donald Trump last week irked the fan base.

QB Mason Rudolph, safety Miles Killebrew, and former Steelers RB Rocky Bleier attended the rally last Friday.

Several fans emailed the team expressing their anger at the gesture, which was not authorized directly by the team.

It prompted the organization to send an email explaining that former and current players “make their own individual decisions,” the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

“We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. As valued fans, your voice is an essential part of what makes our Steelers community and fan base so strong,” the email from the Pittsburgh Steelers said.

“We understand that a recent rally in Pittsburgh has generated a range of reactions from our fan base. Our alumni and current players make their own individual decisions that reflect their views, and they do not necessarily represent the view of the entire Pittsburgh Steelers organization.

“Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate your passion and your continued support of the team.”

Despite the Rooney family, which owns the Steelers, being strong Democratic supporters, several former Steelers players have appeared at rallies for the current President.

Not to mention, former Pittsburgh Steelers stars Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell were on hand at a Trump Rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, in October.

During Friday’s rally, Bleier called Trump a “Hall of Fame President” when he presented him with a custom No. 47 jersey and declared him an “honorary Steeler.”

Pittsburgh Steelers Have Bigger Issues Than Dealing With Donald Trump

The Pittsburgh Steelers desperately need Aaron Rodgers.

The Steelers still do not have a resolution regarding future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Despite the expectation that Rodgers will sign with the team, the two sides have yet to agree to anything concrete.

Rodgers remains a free agent. Seemingly, every day, a new report or rumor comes out about his future.

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t exactly had top-flight quarterback play since Ben Roethlisberger left the team after the 2021 season.

Mason Rudolph is currently in position to start for Pittsburgh if Rodgers ends up not signing.
