Behind the Steel Curtain
The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a bad way. Their offense struggled mightily against the Houston Texans on Monday night and scored just six points. Meanwhile, the Texans defense scored two touchdowns of their own. Pittsburgh goes home empty-handed once again after the worst playoff loss in Steelers history.
Pittsburgh was behind the sticks all game, struggling to convert third and long over and over again against a stout Texans defense.
The way the Monday Night Football crew was talking, it seems like a certainty that Aaron Rodgers is retiring after this game, so Pittsburgh will need a new quarterback for starters. Head coach Mike Tomlin could be on the outs. BUT Pittsburgh has a bunch of salary cap space in 2026 and their defense was good in this game, limiting the Houston offense.
There are bright spots, for sure, but this one hurts. Pittsburgh loaded up on an aging roster in several key spots and couldn’t get the job done. It might be hard reset time.
The Texans move on to face the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round. The Buffalo Bills head to the Denver Broncos.
