The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly eyeing another star wide receiver in a blockbuster trade as they await Aaron Rodgers’ decision.

Aaron Rodgers was released by the New York Jets following a miserable 2024 season and became a free agent for the first time in his career. The Steelers have been in contact with Rodgers since his release, but the 41-year-old has yet to decide if he wants to continue playing or call it a career altogether.

According to a report from Adam Crowley of “The Fan Morning Show” on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are trying to trade for New Orleans Saints star wide receiver Chris Olave.

Crowley got the rumor going with a pair of compelling X/Twitter posts:

To be clear. I had someone who would be in the know text me "Chris Olave." https://t.co/QQx3vafxVp

For what it’s worth, NFL insider John Frascella also reports that the Steelers are working on a trade for Chris Olave, but the two clubs “are still far apart on” a deal. So make of these rumors how you will.

The Steelers made a blockbuster trade for Seattle Seahawks superstar wideout D.K. Metcalf, before trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys last week. Trading Pickens, however, leaves Metcalf as the only game-changing pass-catcher for Aaron Rodgers (or whoever lines up behind center for Pittsburgh in 2025).

Of course, the Steelers may not be keen to give up more valuable draft capital for a star like Chris Olave unless they get a decision from Aaron Rodgers. It doesn’t make sense to mortgage the future if the four-time MVP decides to retire.

Aaron Rodgers Would Make The Steelers Contenders

The future Hall of Famer had a fine statistical season on an awful Jets team last year, so of course he can still produce on a well-coached team like Pittsburgh that feels one piece away from title contention.

A team with Rodgers, Metcalf, a top-10 defense and future Hall of Fame head coach in Tomlin would unquestionably make the Steelers a Super Bowl contender.
