Will the Pittsburgh Steelers hunt for a new starting quarterback for the fourth consecutive offseason? With Aaron Rodgers recently turning 42 years old, there’s no guarantee he’ll want to return for a 22nd NFL season. Plus, depending on how the season ends, there’s always a possibility the Steelers tell the four-time MVP they are moving in a new direction, much like they did with Russell Wilson last offseason.

It’s far too early to definitively determine what the Steelers’ plans are for 2026 quite yet, but it never hurts to look ahead and consider Pittsburgh’s potential options. After rolling with one of the NFL’s oldest starting QBs in 2025, could the Steelers aim for someone much younger in 2026?

Recently, The Athletic’s Jeff Howe suggested that the Steelers could emerge as a “wild card” team that makes a play for upcoming free agent Daniel Jones.

The Indianapolis Colts’ QB suffered a torn Achilles tendon that could very well keep him from being ready by the start of next season. He could very well opt to re-sign with the Colts after experiencing profound success early on, leading a top-five scoring offense before his injury. Yet, if the Colts aren’t completely sold on ‘Indiana Jones’ fully returning to form, it’s possible another team comes in with a contract offer that blows the former first-round pick away.

Could that team be Pittsburgh? Considering the Steelers have been searching for their next franchise quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger retired at the end of the 2021 season, anything is possible for Pittsburgh.
