The Phinsider The Phinsider

We headed into the offseason knowing that the Miami Dolphins' biggest-name free agent would be Jevon Holland. Holland quickly became a fan favorite after being drafted, but this past season, he struggled, particularly with tackling. With fans already divided on whether he should be brought back, news has emerged that the team has no plans to tag Holland with the Franchise Tag designation, allowing him to test free agency.

Compared to Chris Grier's and the organization's past statements, this sounds more like the team intends to let Holland walk and possibly recoup a compensatory pick in 2026. This, of course, leaves the Dolphins needing to add two safeties this offseason. The team may also think they can still retain Holland if his perceived free agent value is lower than expected or if they can match a reasonable offer. However, waiting to gauge his value on the free agent market may pose a significant risk if they hope to keep him eventually.

The prevailing thought around the NFL is that Holland will earn between 18.5 and 19.5 million dollars per season on the open market. This seems high, as it would make him at least the third-highest-paid safety in the NFL. I assume the Dolphins would not be willing to pay this amount.

So tonight’s question is simple: Do you believe Holland is worth what is being referred to as his market value? If so, would you like to see the Dolphins pay or match that number if they were given the opportunity to keep him?
