Philip Rivers’s son, Gunner Rivers, is being touted as “the next great quarterback” on social media following highlights featuring the high school quarterback surfacing online.
Rivers, an eight-time Pro Bowler, is an NFL icon. The former Los Angeles Chargers star is fifth all-time in both NFL passing yards with 64,440 and passing touchdowns with 421. He’s also the Chargers’ all-time leader in passing yards, TDs, and completions.
It appears his son is keen on putting himself on a similar trajectory, as he seems to have quite an arm. You can check him out in the clip below:

Gunner Rivers has already received offers from several notable colleges, including Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M, and his father’s alma mater, NC State.
The five-star prospect currently plays for St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Alabama, where he’s coached by his father. He’s thrown for over 7,000 yards and 70 touchdowns in two seasons.
The younger Rivers will definitely be one of the most-watched college players once he does make the step up. But, as of right now, he hasn’t committed to a program.
He is, of course, spoiled for choice, given the number of attractive offers he’s received. It will be interesting to see whether he follows in his father’s footsteps and plays for the Wolfpack or opts to put on the uniform somewhere else.
