Vintage Philip Rivers returned on Sunday. And we aren’t talking about his throws.

The Indianapolis Colts were eliminated from playoff contention with the Houston Texans’ victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday. But Philip Rivers and company are looking to play spoiler against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are in contention for the AFC’s top seed.

And just because the Colts are out of the playoff race, it doesn’t mean Rivers has lost his passion and competitive fire.

In the third quarter, Philip Rivers completed an 18-yard pass to Josh Downs. The Colts moved quickly to snap the ball before Jacksonville could challenge. However, the refs granted the challenge to Liam Coen.

And Rivers was furious:

Philip Rivers was visibly upset with the officials after the play.

Per Pro Football Reference, Rivers came into Sunday’s game with 397 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in his first two games. Not bad for a 44-year-old who hadn’t played in five years.

Who knows what Rivers is thinking for 2026, but he certainly should attract interest from some teams if he decides to put off permanent retirement again.
