Philadelphia Eagles Secretly Trying to Trade All-Pro Player?

Sitting at 6-2, the Philadelphia Eagles don’t have much to complain about as they enter their bye week. Yet, with the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline approaching quickly, you can bet Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been busy working the phones, trying to find deals that can fuel another strong playoff run.

While the Eagles are surely weighing many different possibilities, some believe they’re even considering trading one of their best players.

Specifically, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio believes the Eagles are quietly trying to trade A.J. Brown.

“There was a report over the weekend that the Eagles are not expected to trade receiver A.J. Brown,” Florio said. “That was the headline. When you look a little deeper, it sure looks like the Eagles are willing, if not eager, to get phone calls about Brown.

That was going into Sunday’s game. A game in which Saquon Barkley erupted for his best game of the season. Brown didn’t play.

Think about the teams in the AFC. The high-level contenders who could be interested. I’ve heard of several teams that are interested.

This, to me, feels like an effort by the Eagles to shop Brown without shopping Brown. Could the Eagles engage in a little addition by subtraction by moving on and picking up some significant draft compensation by getting multiple AFC teams clamoring to try to get him? Starting with the New England Patriots, coached by the man who was his head coach in Tennessee.”

We love the idea of Brown getting to play for coach Vrabel again, especially since he’d form an impressive 1-2 punch with Stefon Diggs for a Patriots team that’s currently atop the AFC East.

Yet, the Eagles have to realize how much Brown and Vrabel may covet the chance to reunite; would Philadelphia really be the ones who want to make it happen? Though, as Florio said, the Eagles could very well be trying to gauge the interest in Brown while pitting several offers against one another. If the Patriots’ offer is much stronger than others, then perhaps a reunion isn’t that crazy.
