The Philadelphia Eagles have made the announcement fans have been waiting on for months. You guessed it… They’ve fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
The way supporters see it, this should have happened a long time ago. They’ll probably tell you the team would probably still be in the playoffs had they gotten rid of Patullo by the end of Week 5.
Still, they will appreciate the decision, though it comes on the back of their elimination. Patullo was Public Enemy No. 1 in Philly and even had his house egged.
Head coach Nick Sirianni is keeping his job despite the team’s failings. No one expected him to be fired after winning a Super Bowl last year.
Of course, that hardly means some fans haven’t asked for it. However, Patullo’s head will be enough… for now.
Although who knows? A.J. Brown isn’t exactly a fan favorite over there at the moment following his latest antics.
Sirianni announced Patullo’s firing via the team’s official website on Tuesday. The head coach confessed that the decision was a difficult one.
“He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization,” Sirianni said of Patullo. “I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career.
“Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”
The Eagles hired Kevin Patullo as a passing game coordinator in 2021. They promoted him to associate head coach two years later, handing him the role of OC after the team won the Super Bowl last season.
It was rumored that the NFC East champions would have him return to his former role, but it appears they’ve cut ties completely.
The Eagles will now be in search of their fifth OC in as many years following Patullo’s dismissal.
