The Philadelphia Eagles are back in the NFC Championship for the third time in eight years and their NFL fanbase is taking every possible precaution to ensure that they make it back to the Super Bowl. One such fan even brought her own holy water to The Linc to bless her team during the playoffs.
Superstitions are not to take lightly!
One of the most sacred landmarks in Philadelphia, the Rocky Balboa statue, was defaced with Washington Commanders gear earlier this week. Historically speaking, that kind of behavior does not end well for the opponent across all major professional sports. Any visiting team (through its fanbase) that has dressed the Rocky statue in its gear has gone on to lose.
Because this latest incident seems to be an inside job, Philadelphia Eagles fans are worried that one of their own might’ve reversed jinxed their team. Does the Rocky curse go both ways?
To counteract the potential curse, Philadelphia is sticking close to its other superstitions. Beccah Hendrickson recently spoke with a group of fans who do not mess around when it comes to their game day or game week routines.
Bill Gillespie wears the same Harold Carmichael jersey every Sunday. He has not washed his jersey all season and it will “continue to be worn ’til we march down Broad Street.” It is safe to assume that he is not the only Philadelphia Eagles fan who has not washed his game day jersey this season.
Drew Scott wakes up at the exact same time on Sundays to eat the exact same meal before kickoff.
Wake up at 10 a.m. Two eggs. Scrambled. Bacon and rye toast. Light eggs. Little bit of milk, just like my mom used to make it.

And then there’s Erica Roca. She and her two sons visited Lincoln Financial Field earlier this week to bless the stadium with her own Holy Water.
That is dedication. Philadelphia Eagles fans aren’t taking chances!
