When the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Commanders on Sunday en route to the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl appearance one special fan was there to see it and video of his experience has gone viral. The 8-year-old fan named Declan was approached in a gift shop and offered $1,000 in cash or a ‘mystery bird’ and he was decked out in Eagles care so naturally he chose the mystery bird stuffed animal.
After opting for the Eagles stuffie, he told Zachery Dereniowski who was the one offering him money that ‘his dream’ was to one day to go an Eagles game. Declan explained that at 8 years old, the reason he hasn’t been to a game yet is because he’s spent a lot of time in the hospital for Systemic Juvenile Arthritis. He’d been in the hospital 17 times to be exact.
What happened next is special. Even if this was staged through the kid’s parents, which I’m not certain that it was but it doesn’t matter, because this is the good stuff. Declan was gifted two tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles NFC Championship game which would be his first game seeing the Birds in person. He was also given the cash which Declan immediately turned around and donated to other people in the grocery store saying “everything’s free” so others wouldn’t have to pay for groceries.
Once at the game, Declan got to go down to the field and meet his heroes. Philly legend LeSean McCoy dapped him up saying “you know we’re going to win this game, baby.” Rob Gronkowski came over and introduced himself. Isaiah Rodgers autographed his gloves and gave them to Declan. Rodgers would later come back and give Declan a game ball. Actor Bradley Cooper waved his way and blew him a kiss.
At this point, Declan declared “this is the best day of my life” and the Philadelphia Eagles hadn’t even started playing yet! It was all capped off when Saquon Barkley came over and signed the 8-year-old’s jersey and posed for photos with him… Oh yeah, and the Eagles put up FIFTY FIVE POINTS against the Commanders and are headed to the Super Bowl. Zachery Dereniowski who goes by ‘mdmotivator’ has had videos go viral in the past but I can’t recall one that left me feeling as good as this one. And I suppose it is worth stating that I’m not at all an Eagles fan, I’m a born and raised Bucs fan, I am just touched by this incredible gesture and how much it means to this kid.
