Philadelphia Eagles C.J. Gardner-Johnson is getting his money’s worth when it comes to the bragging rights with winning a Super Bowl, as the Birds’ cornerback has been taking all sorts of shots on social media (although his comments about Taylor Swift has sparked a Google review-bomb raid on his mother’s restaurant).

Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs — which the Birds dominated wire-to-wire, ultimately winning 40-22 (virtually all of the Chiefs points came when the game was out of sight) — was a rematch of Super Bowl LVIII in 2023, which the Chiefs won by a score of 38-35.

A few months after the Birds took the loss in Super Bowl LVIII, Gardner-Johnson — as he is clearly prone to do — hopped on social media to resume talking trash, claiming that the Eagles’ defensive line would’ve dominated the Chiefs offensive line if the game was played on “legit grass.”

In the wake of the Eagles defensive front’s dominant performance in Super Bowl LIX — they sacked Mahomes six times, the most he’s ever been sacked in a single game, despite not blitzing once — Gardner-Johnson made sure to remind everyone of his prediction.

Now, while Gardner-Johnson’s prediction tweet is obviously cool now, he certainly didn’t dig it up last year when the Chiefs were lifting the Lombardi Trophy for the second straight season and the Birds were sitting at home.

Following the Eagles’ win in Super Bowl LIX, the sports books immediately made them the favorites to win next season’s Super Bowl, with their current future odds hovering at around +650. The bookies see the Baltimore Ravens as the biggest threat to a Birds repeat, placing their Super Bowl odds at +700.

After the Eagles and Ravens, the Buffalo Bills (+750), Kansas City Chiefs (+750), and Detroit Lions (+850) then round out the top five betting favorites for next year’s title.
