Philadelphia Eagles Address, Seemingly Welcome A.J. Brown Trade Rumors

Three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown has been a big part of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ success since arriving in 2022. He’s been to two Pro Bowls since, but his most significant contribution has been helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX.

Brown has been very productive in an Eagles uniform, recording over 1,000 receiving yards in all four seasons in Philly. His yards per game went from 69.7 across three seasons with the Tennessee Titans, to 81.2 YPG with the Eagles.

Except, just because he’s been great in an Eagles uniform, it doesn’t mean his relationship has always been strong with quarterback Jalen Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni. At times, there’s been a certain disconnect, whether it’s with Brown not being more involved in a run-heavy offense, or just from Philadelphia’s lack of scoring success throughout moments of the season.

Some have wondered if Brown’s frequent frustration could lead to a trade this offseason. On Thursday, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was asked about whether he’d be open to trading his top receiver. Given a chance to say no and shoot down all trade rumors regarding Brown, Roseman instead heaped praise on him, but he didn’t deny the rumors.

Yet, after signing a three-year, $96 million contract extension with the Eagles in 2024, Brown is still tied to Philadelphia through 2029. Plus, with his stellar production, there’s no reason for the Eagles to take a reduced offer for him.

Though, getting other teams to pay a first-round pick for a 28-year-old receiver may not be easy either. After originally being traded for the 18th overall pick plus a third-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Eagles may have no choice but to settle for a lesser offer, but we’d guess Roseman still gets strong trade value for the star receiver.
