Philadelphia Eagles’ 3x Pro Bowler Tabbed as Top Trade Candidate

Fourteen games into the season, the Philadelphia Eagles appear to be a step or two behind last year’s team. While their defense still ranks as a top-ten unit, the scoring offense has gone from seventh in 2024 to 18th this season.

Fans and critics have already been calling for change, whether it involves Jalen Hurts, offensive coordinator/playcaller Kevin Patullo, or others. While the Eagles likely don’t want to mess with the moderate success they’ve enjoyed this season, personnel changes are sure to arrive this offseason.

Recently, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler named Eagles receiver A.J. Brown as the NFL’s “most interesting offseason trade candidate.”

“I have several candidates, but let’s start with A.J. Brown,” Fowler wrote. “The weekly concerns about Brown’s messaging — from sonnets to sound bites — must be taxing on Philadelphia’s locker room, even if players understand the receiver’s frustration due to the limitations of the Eagles’ passing attack. Several executives I spoke to believe the Eagles could look to move Brown, who is 28 and still has prime years left.”

As Fowler notes later, Brown, a three-time Pro Bowl receiver, would surely have a big market. He’s on track to record a 1,000-yard season in all but one of his seven seasons thus far. Even though he hasn’t been able to produce as much in the past two years, many still view Brown as one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Plus, he’s signed through 2029, giving whichever team is interested in acquiring him a great amount of long-term security. Of course, a trade could bring a new deal, but his current $23.3 million cap hit for 2026 is more than reasonable considering his résumé.

Naturally, the Eagles likely wouldn’t part with their top receiver at a bargain rate. Teams would likely have to offer a first-round or possibly a second-day pick mixed with some other combination of draft selections in exchange for Brown. Yet, for how difficult it can be to find proven players, that price may very well be worth it for the right fit.
