The second-year man is set to be an important part of the offense is 2025.
Pro Football Focus recently shared their NFL roster rankings for all 32 teams from around the league, which provide comprehensive breakdowns of each team’s strengths, weaknesses, X-factors, and rookies to watch. PFF identified tackle Taliese Fuaga as the X-factor for the New Orleans Saints.
At Oregon State, Fuaga was one of the best right tackles in the country, allowing zero sacks in his final three years of college ball. However, with 2022 first-round pick Trevor Penning long having shown his struggles at left tackle, New Orleans decided to flip the two for the 2024 season.
Fuaga will hope to build off of an impressive rookie season at left tackle, a position that he never played in college. However, with the Saints drafting left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. back in April, he is likely to make a switch back to his old position of right tackle in his sophomore season.
And throughout the offseason, that seems to be the case, as he has been lining up at RT with Banks Jr. at LT and Penning at left guard during the offseason training activities.
Luckily for New Orleans, Fuaga seems to have little worry when it comes to going back to his old position.
“It’s a big difference, but at the same time I played it for four years in college, even though it’s still a different level,” Fuaga said during OTAs. “It’s just knocking some rust off and getting back to the basics.”
