As recently as Week 8, Myles Murphy was thrown into the category of failed Duke Tobin defensive picks.

Now? He might be the future of the defensive line.

According to Pro Football Focus analytics, the third-year defensive end has morphed into a run-stopping machine since Week 9.

Murphy is fifth in run stops and fourth in run stop percentage.

He is also fourth in most tackles with zero missed tackles. And his two batted passes tie him for third place in that span.

Of course, despite all that improvement in recent weeks, he is still an average pass rusher, ranking 24th in pass rush win rate and 19th in productivity.

But Murphy is only 23 years old, and his athletic profile was off the charts.

That data gives a lot of hope to Bengals fans and a young defense that is figuring it out just in time to potentially save the season.
