Second-year quarterback Drake Maye is beginning to lead the New England Patriots passing game to success. However, the team’s running game still needs significant improvement.

If the Patriots want to improve their running game, they may need to consider trading for a top-notch back. Recently, MassLive’s Karen Guregian suggested that the Patriots target New York Jets running back Breece Hall.

“Hall, as well as several other notable Jets, could be on the block given the team’s 0-6 start,” Guregian wrote on Tuesday. “Whether it’s via trade, someone off the street, the Patriots need help in the run game.”

The Patriots are currently averaging 91.5 rushing yards per game this season, ranking 26th in the NFL. Hall could come in and fix the running game right away.

New York’s struggles to pass the ball effectively puts Hall at a disadvantage. Therefore, opposing teams focus on stopping the run, which makes it considerably harder for Hall to perform at his best.

Despite defenses focusing on stopping Hall, he is averaging 4.7 yards per carry this season. In fact, Hall is outperforming New England’s running backs, Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, who are both averaging under four yards per carry.
