The New England Patriots have been one of the best teams in the NFL all season and currently hold one of the best records in the AFC.

If the season concluded today, the Patriots would secure the No. 2 seed in the conference, just behind the Denver Broncos. Both teams share the same 9-2 record, but the Broncos hold the tiebreakers over New England.

The Broncos have performed at a level comparable to the Patriots this season and, on Sunday, secured a significant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. With one of the top defenses in the NFL, Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard believes that the Patriots should be particularly wary of the Broncos in the AFC.

“Drake Maye is better than Bo Nix,” Bedard said on Tuesday, via Patriots on CLSN. “But if you’re looking at what could stop Drake Maye, it would be that Broncos defense.”

Denver is currently limiting opponents to just 17.5 points per game, ranking third in the NFL in defense. If the Patriots face the Broncos in the postseason, Denver’s defense could pose a host of challenges for Maye, especially if the game is played on the road.

If the Patriots have to travel to face the Broncos, it could be challenging for New England to secure a victory, as Denver boasts one of the NFL’s strongest home-field advantages.
