The Patriots won the toss and deferred, putting the defense on the field first vs. Spencer Rattler and the Saints offense. They started fast with a 53-yard completion to Chris Olave with Kyle Dugger, who drew the start for the injured Jaylinn Hawkins, in coverage. New England started things on the ground with two straight runs to set up a third-and-9, where Drake Maye found an open Kayshon Boutte back in Louisiana for a first-down.
