Pats Pulpit
The New England Patriots regained one for Thursday’s practice in Foxborough.
Linebacker Christian Elliss was back following an illness, while four others remained non-participants as the Baltimore Ravens matchup nears. Off the edges, off the ball as well as in the secondary, fellow defensive starters Harold Landry III, Robert Spillane, Carlton Davis III and Marcus Jones have now missed consecutive sessions.
Here’s the second injury report leading up to Sunday’s 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff at M&T Bank Stadium.
The 35-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills did not include Spillane. New England’s leading tackler had been limited in back-to-back practices last week before being listed as questionable with a foot injury. He avoided the inactives list 90 minutes prior to kickoff at Gillette Stadium, yet never entered the huddle and has since been spotted in a walking boot. Knee injuries have kept fellow captains Landry and Jones, who rank atop the defense with 8.5 sacks and three interceptions, respectively, also out of practice this week. And at outside cornerback, Davis played 45 of this past Sunday’s 70 snaps despite missing time with what was initially announced as a groin injury.
Elliss returned as a limited participant for the Patriots’ shoulder-padded practice on Thursday. The linebacker has started 10 of his 12 appearances this campaign. Seeing 48 percent of the snaps on defense and 40 percent of the snaps on special teams, he’s had a hand in 76 tackles along with one forced fumble and three passes defensed.
Multiple Ravens starters were upgraded to full participation on Thursday. The 2019 and 2023 NFL MVP would be among them after missing the previous session. And so would a linebacker carrying five consecutive All-Pro selections.
