From veteran dual-threat Antonio Gibson to lead back Rhamondre Stevenson and explosive rookie TreVeyon Henderson, the New England Patriots running backs room is filled with talent.

Gibson told reporters on Tuesday that he believes the group is among the best in the league.

“Do the #Patriots have one of the NFL’s best RB rooms? Antonio Gibson believes so,” Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald posted on Bluesky. “Gibson: ‘We got something special. We got power, we got speed. We got it all, man. So long as we lock in on the details and do what coach is asking (of) us … we’ll definitely prove it to y’all.'”

Each of the trio brings something different to the table.

Gibson is one of the most versatile offensive weapons on the team. He finished his first season with the Patriots in 2024 with a team-high 983 all-purpose yards, 538 of which came on his 120 carries.

Stevenson has been New England’s workhorse back since his second season in 2022, when he finished 10th in the NFL in touches with 279.

Henderson has been one of the biggest stories of the Patriots’ preseason and among the most exciting rookies in the league this summer. The Ohio State product leads all New England running backs this preseason in yards per carry (7.6), having recorded five rushing attempts for 38 yards and one touchdown. Henderson’s added two kickoff returns for 126 yards, including a 100-yard touchdown on his first NFL touch.

Gibson is expected to continue working on special teams, while filling in as an occasional change-of-pace back this fall. Henderson’s electric summer has created an interesting debate, leading some to believe that he could eventually overtake Stevenson as the team’s lead back.

The Patriots will travel to face the New York Giants in their preseason finale on Thursday.
