Pats Pulpit Pats Pulpit

The Patriots will continue their 2025 training camp on Tuesday.

The New England Patriots introduced full pads to their training camp mix on Monday. Despite the accompanying uptick in physicality, they will be back on the practice fields on Tuesday for what will be their second straight day of practice and sixth overall.

Here is everything else you need to know about the session.

Schedule

The Patriots’ sixth training camp session will again take place on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium. As are most other sessions, it is open to the general public at no cost.

  • 9:15 a.m. ET: Gates open
  • 10:15 a.m. ET: Practice
  • ca. 12 p.m. ET: Player availability (Joshua Dobbs, Cole Strange, Khyiris Tonga, Harold Landry III, Alex Austin, Craig Woodson)

As always, the schedule is tentative and subject to change. For more information, please visit our Pats Pulpit Training Camp Guide.

Story of the day

The biggest story coming out of Monday is the apparent leg injury suffered by star cornerback Christian Gonzalez. The second-team All-Pro was unable to finish the session after coming up limping following an 11-on-11 drill. His presence or absence on Tuesday will give us further indication about the severity of the issue.

Even if the third-year man is back, however, the depth at cornerback might continue to get tested. Free agency pickup and fellow starter Carlton Davis missed Monday’s practice entirely, leading to the team relying on backups Alex Austin and Marcellas Dial Jr. to play elevated roles at the cornerback position. The two youngsters might also get actively involved on Tuesday.

Injuries to monitor

PUP: WR Mack Hollins, TE Austin Hooper, OT Vederian Lowe

DNP: LB Jahlani Tavai, CB Carlton Davis III

Limited: DL Christian Barmore

Injured: CB Christian Gonzalez, WR Demeer Blankumsee

The Patriots saw two players return to practice on Monday: wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk and safety Josh Minkins, the latter of whom getting activated off the non-football injury list, were back on the field. Of course, the injury suffered by the aforementioned Christian Gonzalez overshadowed those returns.

Other injury situations to monitor are Jahlani Tavai and Carlton Davis not participating in Monday’s sessions, Christian Barmore remaining limited, and rookie wideout Demeer Blankumsee also getting shaken up.

Players to watch

WR Kyle Williams: The third-round rookie has been relatively quiet since an active first day of camp last Wednesday. That said, he still currently looks like the No. 4 at the position and regularly enters the field behind top outside option Kayshon Boutte. With the Patriots potentially integrating more passing into the mix again Tuesday, his involvement and opportunities might increase again.

OT Will Campbell and OL Jared Wilson: Training camp is all about stringing days together, and the Patriots’ first-round rookie will have to find that out on Tuesday. Campbell looked solid in his first ever day in full pads against NFL competition, but he will need to build consistency in order to be best prepared for what awaits...
