The New England Patriots are riding high right now, as they are sitting atop the AFC heading into Week 13 with a 10-2 record. However, just because they are ahead now doesn’t mean they will be for the rest of the year, and it’s clear that teams are looking for ways to track down the Pats over the remainder of the regular season.

Even with the Patriots having a substantial lead in the AFC East division now, their biggest competition is still the Buffalo Bills. While things haven’t been going great for the Bills as of late, they remain one of the most dangerous teams in the league.

Heading into Week 13, Buffalo, like many other teams, was looking for reinforcements. It appears to have found one in the form of former New England wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who was released by the New Orleans Saints last week. After clearing waivers, the Bills announced on Tuesday that they were signing Cooks in free agency.

“We have signed WR Brandin Cooks to the active roster,” Buffalo announced in a post on X.

Cooks spent the 2017 season with the Patriots, catching 65 passes for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s remained a speedy playmaker on offense, but his role with the Saints never materialized this season, as he caught just 19 passes for 165 yards, leading to him requesting his release.

With the Bills needing help on offense, Cooks should see snaps right away with his new team. Cooks will square off against his former team later this season, as New England and Buffalo still have one meeting left on the schedule this year in Week 15.
