The Patriots have announced a pair of throwback games.

The New England Patriots announced on Tuesday that they will wear their throwback uniforms twice during the upcoming 2025 NFL regular season.

The red “Pat Patriot” look will make its comeback at a 1 p.m. ET kickoff against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3. It will return in Week 10 for a Monday night showdown with the New York Giants.

Both games will take place at the team’s home arena, Gillette Stadium. Based on the last few seasons, the expectation is that the throwback theme will extend beyond the team’s outfits.

The Patriots wore their classic red-and-white look for more than 30 seasons between their inception in 1960 and the 1993 season. After changing both logo and primary colors in the mid-90s, the franchise initially brought its traditional look back only sporadically: between 1994 and 2012, it was used on 12 occasions, with New England going 9-3 in those games.

An NFL rule change prevented the team from using the alternate starting in 2013. However, the league loosened its regulations for the 2022 season to allow “Pat Patriot” back into the rotation.

Since then, the look has returned twice per season for a total of six games. Only one of those — a 29-0 blowout over the Detroit Lions in 2022 — has ended in a Patriots victory.

Last season, New England wore the red-and-white combo for a 41-21 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 6 — the first start of quarterback Drake Maye’s career — and a 25-24 defeat at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13.
