New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs had his request to postpone his arraignment granted by a judge, as shared by WCVB on Friday.

Diggs is now scheduled to be arraigned in Dedham District Court on Feb. 23 — two weeks after the Super Bowl — instead of the previously scheduled date of Jan. 23.

Diggs is facing a felony criminal charge as a result of an incident in which allegedly “tried to choke” his female private chef over a paycheck dispute on Dec. 2.

David Meier, the veteran wide receiver’s lawyer, released the following statement on his behalf:

“Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations. They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur. The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction. Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law.”

The Patriots have stood by their leading wide receiver as the legal process has played out, saying they supported him a statement released after the accusations were made public.
