FOXBORO — Stefon Diggs spoke with reporters Tuesday for the first time since a video of the New England Patriots receiver holding an unidentified substance on a boat went viral.
“Obviously, I want to be as candid with you guys as possible,” Diggs said. “I kind of have a thing where I don’t talk about my personal life with people I don’t know personally. I’m pretty sure everyone here, men and women, are great people. But I kind of keep my personal life personal. I had a conversation with (head coach Mike Vrabel), obviously. I’m going to echo everything that he said.
“He told me, hope everyone’s making good decisions, and I had a conversation with people in the building as well,” Diggs continued. “So, everything else is everything else. The particulars are all internal.”
A reporter followed up asking Diggs specifically what was in the bag.
“Obviously, it’s a conversation that’s happening internally. I can’t have too much of a conversation about it,” he responded. “I’ve been in this league 10 years. You can format the question many different ways, but I’m obviously going to answer the same way.”
Diggs was then asked if he knew he was being recorded and if he regretted that it happened, but he referred to the same statement.
In the video that went viral, Diggs held what appeared to be a pink substance in his hand while on a boat with multiple women. Vrabel addressed the incident before the Patriots held their first OTA session open to the media.
“It’s something we’re aware of, and obviously we want to make great decisions on and off the field,” Vrabel said. “The message will be the same for all of our players: that we’re trying to make great decisions. And any conversations that I’ve had with Stefon will remain between him and I and the club.”
