New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers stood trial in Quincy District Court on Thursday and Friday on three charges of domestic violence. He was acquitted of all three, according to a report by Charlie McKenna of MassLive.

Peppers, 29, was arrested by Braintree police in the morning hours of Oct. 5. He was subsequently charged with assault and battery on an intimate partner, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B drug.

He was released on $2,500 bail, with a jury trial eventually set for this week. Peppers appeared at court Thursday and Friday to take the stand and outline his version of the events. Jury deliberations began shortly thereafter, and lasted around an hour before a verdict was reached.

Besides being found not guilty on all three of the domestic violence charges, Peppers also entered a plea deal for the fourth charge — a misdemeanor drug possession charge stemming from cocaine found in his wallet on the night of his arrest — earlier this week. The charge will be dropped if he remains drug-free and undergoes regular drug testing through the NFL’s substance abuse program.

A first-round draft pick in 2017, Peppers joined the Patriots as a free agent in 2022. After appearing in 32 games with 20 starts over his first two seasons with the team, he signed a three-year, $25 million contract extension with the club and was subsequently voted a team captain for the 2024 season.

However, he found himself on the commissioner’s exempt list following his October arrest and also was removed from the group of captains.

Peppers missed eight games before his return to the field in early December and later also had to sit out the final three weeks of the season due to a hamstring injury. In total, he appeared in six games in 2024.
