The Patriots made another move to fill open spots on Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff.
Tony Dews is expected to join New England, according to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt on Wednesday. The reported coaching addition came on the same day the Patriots reportedly hired Terrell Williams as defensive coordinator and a day after Josh McDaniels’ reported return to Foxboro, Mass.
Dews served as the New York Jets’ running backs coach in 2024. He served the same role on Vrabel’s staff with the Titans from 2018-22. The 51-year-old transitioned to tight ends coach in his final season in Tennessee. Dews also has experience coaching multiple positions in his 26-year career.
The Patriots’ reported hiring of Dews marked the first assistant hire for Vrabel’s staff.
