Brian Belichick is heading off into the unknown.
Belichick, who spent the last five seasons as safeties coach, will be moving on from the New England Patriots in 2025, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN, after initially serving as a scouting assistant in 2016 and a coaching assistant from 2017-2019.
The Patriots have essentially rebuilt the entire coaching staff under Mike Vrabel, with special teams coaches Jeremy Springer and Tom Quinn being the only confirmed holdovers from last season’s group.
Belichick, of course, is the youngest son of North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick — who departed the franchise last offseason.
“Really happy for my dad. A lot of people are excited, including him,” Brian Belichick said after his father took the job at UNC. “It’s going to be fun to watch. He loves coaching football. It’s what he should be doing. It’s going to be great. It’s really exciting. Really happy for him and think we’re all excited to watch it.”
It’s expected that the former safeties coach could take a job with the Tar Heels.
