There could be two new starting quarterbacks entering the AFC East next season, as the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins could be looking for an upgrade.

The Dolphins decided to bench quarterback Tua Tagovailoa earlier this month, while the Jets’ signing of free agent quarterback Justin Fields did not pan out.

New York is in a much better position to draft a rookie quarterback in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, with it currently holding the No. 3 pick.

Dalton Wasserman from Pro Football Focus released a mock draft on Monday, predicting that the Jets will select Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

“The Jets’ passing game is in desperate need of improvement, so they select their new franchise quarterback, Oregon’s Dante Moore,” Wasserman wrote. “Moore enters the College Football Playoff quarterfinals with a 91.8 PFF passing grade and 28 big-time throws, both of which place him among the top three qualified quarterbacks in the nation.”

Moore has appeared in 13 games this season, throwing for 3,046 yards and tallying 28 touchdowns, along with eight interceptions. Moore has only started one full season in college, which means he could decide to return to school next season to get more game action before heading to the NFL.
