The Patriots beat the Jets 42-10 on Sunday, showing that both franchises are moving in opposite directions. New England is getting ready for a playoff run while New York is gearing up to start thinking about its offseason plans.

One area the Jets will need to consider upgrading is the running back position, as Breece Hall will be a free agent. If New York doesn’t bring Hall back, it could look to sign a veteran free agent to replace him.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay labeled Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams as a fit for the Jets and even predicted New York will give Williams a three-year, $20 million deal.

“The New York Jets make plenty of sense as a landing spot for the five-year veteran,” Kay wrote on Tuesday. “Gang Green will likely be in the market for a Breece Hall replacement this spring and could replicate a good chunk of their star’s production at a cheaper cost via Williams.”

Williams joined the Cowboys this past offseason after spending his first four seasons with the Denver Broncos. Williams has recorded 1,201 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

It would be a nice move for the Jets to sign Williams and then draft a rookie running back in the first couple of rounds.
