Patriots fans have spoken, and Julian Edelman soon will receive his red jacket.
Edelman won the fan vote over fellow New England legends Adam Vinatieri and Logan Mankins to become a 2025 inductee to the franchise’s Hall of Fame. The former wide receiver, who’s set to become the 37th inductee to the Patriots Hall of Fame, received the honor in his first year on the ballot.
It was deserved recognition for Edelman, who converted from quarterback to pass-catcher upon joining New England as a 2009 seventh-round draft pick. The Kent State product spent his entire 12-year career with the Patriots, whom he helped win three Super Bowl championships.
“Julian Edelman is one of the great success stories in our franchise’s history,” owner Robert Kraft said in a statement released by the team. “There aren’t many players who earn an NFL roster spot at a position they have never played before. Julian not only did that as a seventh-round draft selection, but he finished his career with the second-most receptions in franchise history and as a three-time Super Bowl champion, including his last as Super Bowl MVP. No one was more committed to his craft and honing his skills than Jules. His explosiveness off the line, quickness in his cuts and elusiveness after the catch made him one of the hardest players to defend. His clutch catches in our biggest games and overall toughness made him a fan favorite.”
Edelman will be joined by former head coach Bill Parcells at this year’s Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Details for the event will be shared by the team at a later date.
