New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Kyle Williams finally broke out in the team’s Week 10 upset vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hauling in a 72-yard touchdown pass from Drake Maye.

The third-round pick followed the effort up with arguably the worst game of his first season in Week 11 vs. the New York Jets, however, failing to catch any of his career-high three targets.

Patriots reporter Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald revealed “53 thoughts on the Patriots’ 53 active players” on Saturday morning, saying that he wouldn’t be surprised if Williams is inactive for the first time this year in the near future.

“There’s no denying Williams’ speed or his lack of production (two catches on 10 targets since the opener). I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s a healthy scratch for a big upcoming game, regular season or playoffs,” Callahan wrote.

After being selected with the 69th overall pick in April, Williams showed promise in the preseason.

Outside of the long touchdown reception vs. the Buccaneers though, the 23-year-old hasn’t had much success this fall. Williams has played in all 11 games this season but has recorded just three catches for 92 yards and the one touchdown on 11 targets.

Fortunately for the Washington State product, he’s got plenty of time to become a more consistent player.
