Cole Strange is another step closer to making his return for the New England Patriots.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday reported the Patriots are activating Strange from the physically unable to perform list. Strange’s 21-day practice window was set to expire Wednesday, which would have meant he transitioned to season-ending injured reserve.
Strange returned to practice Nov. 20. It was the first time after Strange suffered a torn patellar tendon last December.
Strange fills the roster spot of veteran receiver K.J. Osborn, who reportedly was released by the Patriots on Tuesday. Osborn, a healthy scratch four of the last five games, signed a one-year deal with New England this offseason.
The next question as it pertains to Strange: Where will he play? The 2022 first-round pick could provide the Patriots help at either left guard, where he played prior to his injury, or center.
