McCaskey died at the age of 102.

Virginia Halas McCaskey, the principal owner of the Chicago Bears, passed away on Thursday at the age of 102. The New England Patriots were among the teams reacting to the news, releasing a statement on behalf of their owner, Robert Kraft.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the McCaskey family and the Chicago Bears on the passing of Virginia Halas McCaskey. As the daughter of NFL founder George Halas, Virginia had a front-row seat to the league’s evolution and played an integral role in its growth. She embodied her father’s unwavering passion and dedication to the game, serving the sport with grace, dignity, and enduring commitment. Her legacy will forever be a part of the NFL’s history and the game she loved so deeply. I will miss my interactions with her. She was always class personified.

Halas McCaskey had owned the Bears since 1983, after the death of her father, team founder George Halas.
