The New England Patriots have some serious issues with Christian Barmore and Stefon Diggs.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Diggs was facing serious felony charges. The 31-year-old is charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges from an incident on December 2. Diggs allegedly smacked a private chef over a paycheck dispute at a Dedham residence.
The paperwork alleges that Diggs became angered upon hearing how much he owed her for her work. According to court documents, Diggs then “tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck.”
New England made sure to let the world know they were behind him. “The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs,” the Patriots said in a statement. They would then post a slow-motion video of a catch he made on Sunday.
Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse for the Patriots, they did. Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore is reportedly facing a domestic-assault charge. The 26-year-old was charged with one count of assault and battery on a family/household member, per WCVB TV in Boston.
The alleged incident reportedly took place on August 8. Just as with Diggs, the organization released a statement. However, it was shocking how vastly different the tones were in the statements.
“The New England Patriots statements on both Christian Barmore and Stefon Diggs: Please notice the difference in language,” a post said on X.

For Christian Barmore, it read:
“The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August. The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”
For Diggs, it read:
“The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs. Stefon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary. Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”
