The New England Patriots are not overlooking the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, which has struggled to start the season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers defense has not had the start to the 2025 season that they likely imagined, allowing 100-yard rushers and at least 31 points in each of their first two games. Their Week 3 opponent is not overlooking them, though.
New England Patriots star wide receiver Stefon Diggs believes a tough game is on deck, despite the Steelers’ early season struggles.
“I look forward to going out there this week,” Diggs said, via the team’s YouTube channel. “They got a lot of players over there that can fly around. I don’t wanna single anybody out, but that Steelers defense, you know what it’s known for. Gotta buckle up.”
Many believed Pittsburgh was going to field one of the best defenses, if not the best defense in the league this season after a very active offseason that saw the additions of veteran cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey, Darius Slay and Brandin Echols, safety Juan Thornhill and first-round rookie Derrick Harmon.
However, that has been far from the case, especially as injuries continue to pile up for the unit. That could mean a big day for Diggs.
The 31-year-old has only played the Steelers a handful of times, but he has had success against them with 29 catches for 328 yards and two touchdowns in four games with the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings.
Diggs thinks one player could very well prevent that from happening, though.
“[Ramsey’s] a hell of a player,” Diggs continued. “He’s been in the league for a long time. I’ve been in for a long time, too, so I’ve been watching him for a long time. He’s been in a couple places, and he’s never been anything less than a hell of a player. He’s very smart, distinctive, aggressive.”
A fifth-round pick in 2015, Diggs has 867 receptions for 10,580 yards and 70 touchdowns in his 11-year NFL career.
