Kayshon Boutte celebrated his return to Louisiana by leading the New England Patriots to a Week 6 win over the New Orleans Saints.
The former LSU wide receiver delivered at the Superdome, securing all five targets for 93 yards and two touchdowns in a 25-19 win. Boutte, who entered Week 6 with four career NFL touchdowns, had never scored twice in a game since his 2021 collegiate campaign with the Tigers.
Boutte told reporters that he bought tickets for 40 friends and family members to attend Sunday’s game. The 23-year-old reflected on the triumphant homecoming in his post-game press conference.
“It was amazing coming back home,” Boutte said. “First time playing in the Superdome. A little emotional at first. It felt like a full-circle moment, first time I’ve been back playing here, so I think everything was cool.”
Boutte wasn’t the only former LSU star igniting New England’s offense at New Orleans. Rookie left tackle Will Campbell also played for the SEC program before the Patriots made him the No. 4 pick this year.
According to Boutte, Campbell campaigned to join the Patriots before April’s draft.
“It means a lot,” Boutte said of sharing the moment with Campbell. “We played together when I was there, too, so we already kind of had that bond, that chemistry. Even throughout last year, he was texting me, telling them, ‘Please draft me here.’ So he wanted to be here. Now that he’s here, it’s great. Great guy, great energy. I love him.”
Drake Maye didn’t return to Charlotte, but the former Tar Heels star led the Patriots to a Week 4 home win over the Carolina Panthers. The quarterback enjoyed watching his teammates play in their home state.
“It was cool,” Maye said. “Seeing them do their thing … that was cool to see. It’s special coming home.”
Boutte began the 2025 season with a 103-yard outburst, but he tallied 105 combined receiving yards over the next four games before Sunday’s bounce-back game. The former sixth-round pick can follow up on the Week 6 eruption when the Patriots play the Tennessee Titans next weekend.
