Harold Landry will need some extra time before he hits the practice field. According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the Patriots have placed the veteran linebacker on the active/physically unable to perform list. Tight end C.J. Dippre also landed on active/PUP, while running back Terrell Jennings was placed on active/non-football injury list.
A former Titans standout, Landry reunited with Mike Vrabel last offseason via a three-year, $43.5MM deal. He was one of New England’s most productive pass-rushers for much of the 2025 campaign, and he ultimately finished the year with 49 tackles and 8.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus graded him 43rd among 119 qualifying edge defenders.
The veteran was slowed by a late-season knee injury that forced him to miss Weeks 17 and 18 and limited his snaps during the postseason. After generally averaging more than a 75 percent snap share during the regular season, Landry got into only about 25 percent of his team’s defensive snaps in the postseason. He was also sidelined for the team’s AFC Championship win over the Broncos.
Landry is apparently still nursing that knee injury, and that led to some questions about his future in New England. While there were rumblings that the Patriots could look to move on, we previously pointed out that the player’s contract made that an unrealistic path. Instead, the organization will count on Landry returning to form in 2026 before reevaluating his roster status next offseason.
If Landry is forced to miss time, the Patriots will have to rely on a new-look pass-rush corps. The team opted against re-signing K’Lavon Chaisson, instead choosing to add Dre’Mont Jones to lead their OLBs corps. The Patriots also added pass-rusher Gabe Jacas in the second round, although the rookie remains unsigned as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery.
It’s uncertain what injury Dippre is currently battling, but his placement on PUP could hurt his chances to earn the TE3 role. Following Julian Hill‘s season-ending knee injury suffered back in June, the Patriots were navigating an uncertain depth chart behind Hunter Henry. The team will likely turn to third-round rookie Eli Raridon as their top backup, but Dippre was in the mix for the third spot alongside holdover Jack Westover and UDFA Tanner Arkin.
A 2025 UDFA out of Alabama, Dippre spent much of his rookie campaign on the Patriots practice squad. He made a pair of appearances in 2026, splitting his time between the offense and special teams.
Jennings has gotten looks in the backfield since joining the organization as a UDFA in 2024. In 10 career games, the RB has collected 115 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 37 touches. With Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson leading the depth chart, Jennings will be competing with the likes of Lan Larison, Jam Miller, and Myles Montgomery for one of the final spots on the depth chart.
The three players cannot participate in practices while they’re on the PUP or NFI list. However, they can be activated at any time.
