New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez will make his season debut on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Gonzalez, who missed nearly seven weeks of significant action after suffering a hamstring injury during the early days of training camp, will return to action and presumably provide a much-needed boost for New England.
Jared Wilson (knee/ankle) was ruled out on Friday, which will cause the first change along the offensive line this season with the insertion of Ben Brown. Elijah Ponder, Eric Gregory, Caedan Wallace, Efton Chism III and Tommy DeVito will also be absent from the must-win matchup, with the latter four remaining inactive for the fourth consecutive consecutive week.
The Patriots brought aboard linebacker Darius Harris and offensive lineman Brenden Jaimes as practice squad elevations on Saturday.
Xavier Legette (hamstring), Patrick Jones III (hamstring), Ja’Tavion Sanders (ankle) and D.J. Wonnum (hip) were previously ruled out for Carolina. The Panthers will also be without Jimmy Horn, Jaden Crumedy and Nick Samac.
