The New England Patriots put a lot of faith in rookie left tackle Will Campbell when they selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, according to second-year o-lineman Caedan Wallace, there’s another rookie on the line that has caught his attention.
After spending big on defense in free agency, the Pats attacked the offensive side of the ball in the draft. That led the team to select Campbell, running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Kyle Williams and center Jared Wilson with their first four picks.
People have praised each of these selections from New England. However, of the bunch, it’s Wilson who has likely flown the most under the radar. While that isn’t necessarily a surprise given how good Campbell has looked early on, Wallace thinks Wilson deserves his fair share of praise too.
“Jared is really, really (expletive) good,” Wallace said of Wilson when speaking with reporters after the team’s latest practice.
Wilson earned a pair of National Championships with the Georgia Bulldogs in 2021 and 2022 before earning a full-time starting role in 2023. Not only did he showcase his skills, but his versatility was also on full display during his time on the field.
There’s no doubt Campbell has been the star of the Patriots’ new-look offensive line early in training camp, but Wilson has been no slouch either. The coaching staff has certainly taken note, and now his own teammates are hopping on the hype train.
Wallace, on the other hand, is also hoping to generate some positive momentum himself after a rocky rookie season. After getting selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Wallace only played in six games, and he struggled during his limited time on the field.
If all goes according to plan, both Wallace and Wilson will become key pieces of the Patriots’ offensive line. For now, though, Wilson appears to be turning heads, and he will look to keep up the strong work when the team returns to practice on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. ET.
