The New England Patriots picked up their third straight win in Week 6 when they took down the New Orleans Saints by a score of 25-19. It was back to work on Monday, though, and that led the team to make an interesting move involving one of the players from their 2024 draft class.

That player would be guard Layden Robinson, who was selected in the fourth round of the draft last year. As a rookie, Robinson played in 13 games, 11 of which were starts, but he was on the outside looking in when it came to the team’s offensive line construction for much of training camp.

After he was initially released by the team as part of their final roster cuts, Robinson instead got placed on injured reserve, which appeared to end his season. However, he ended up getting waived from injured reserve, allowing him to sign and play for another team.

“Patriots waive G Layden Robinson from injured reserve,” the team announced in a post on X.

This is just another blow to what is shaping up to be a historically bad draft class for New England. With Robinson gone, that leaves only Drake Maye and Caedan Wallace as the two remaining players from the 2024 draft on the Patriots roster (Marcelles Dial is also on injured reserve currently).

Thankfully, it appears as if Maye is the team’s quarterback of the future, so the 2024 draft hasn’t been a complete wash. After taking down the Saints, Maye and the Pats will turn their attention to Week 7, where a matchup with the 1-5 Tennessee Titans awaits them.
