Mike Vrabel prepared for the first step toward rebuilding the Patriots, but that doesn’t mean he won’t take jabs at former teammates now and again.
Vrabel spoke to the media at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday. New England’s head coach laid out his vision for the 2025 NFL Draft and offered insight on how the offseason could play out.
There is a lot of interest outside of Foxboro, Mass., around Vrabel’s return as head coach after a year as a Cleveland Browns consultant. And the 49-year-old was asked about his thoughts about Tom Brady’s role in Las Vegas Raiders ownership.
“How hard is it? It can’t be that hard, right?” Vrabel quipped to reporters, per the Patriots. “It’s not like playing. No, Tom will provide great input. It’s important that he’s involved in our league, and I think that’s a great thing for the National Football League.”
Brady’s role with the Raiders isn’t clearly stated, but the Patriots Hall of Fame reportedly helped Las Vegas interview Ben Johnson and later hire Pete Carroll. He’s also expected to have a role in team-building.
New England will get a close look at what Brady helped build when the Raiders play at Gillette Stadium next season.
