A total of seven trades took place before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, but the New England Patriots decided not to get in on the action.

Even though they had exploratory talks and expressed some level of interest in multiple players, nothing transpired at One Patriot Place. The trading window closed at 4 p.m. ET, and the Patriots let it do so quietly.

This means that the 7-2 team did not add any outside talent to its roster despite being in a position to make a playoff run. The only player brought into the mix on Tuesday was second-year wide receiver Brenden Rice, who was signed to the practice squad.

Likewise, New England also did not part ways with any more of its players. The team previously traded defensive end Keion White to the San Francisco 49ers and safety Kyle Dugger to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but no additional moves of the kind took place on Tuesday. Outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who was regarded as a potential trade chip, remains with the team.

League-wide, 11 moves took place since the Patriots shipped off White and Dugger last Tuesday, including seven on deadline day. The most notable were made by the New York Jets: the Patriots’ AFC East rivals parted ways with starting defenders Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams in two separate blockbuster trades; they received three total first-round draft picks and other assets in return.

The NFL closing its trading window until the start of the 2026 league year next March also means that all players who are released will be subject to waivers. Before the deadline, only those with less than four seasons had to pass through the waiver wire to enter free agency.
