Tom Brady tormented the Buffalo Bills throughout his iconic career with the New England Patriots. He now wouldn’t mind seeing his former AFC East rival finally climb the mountaintop.
The Bills are seeking their first Super Bowl title in franchise history. After watching them fall short of an AFC championship in six straight playoff appearances, some fans have adopted Josh Allen and Co. as a sentimental favorite.
Their path to the Super Bowl may run through Foxborough, but Brady also feels a soft spot for the Bills. The Fox broadcast discussed his former foe on Thursday’s “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” before Buffalo’s AFC Divisional Round matchup against the Denver Broncos.
“It’s hard to not love the Buffalo Bills and this story,” Brady said. “I think it would be just incredible for their fan base, who have been so enthusiastic about this team, to finally get over the hump.”
Brady also set the stage for Josh Allen to produce a seminal moment by leading the Bills to another road playoff win. While he acknowledged that the “undermanned” Bills are dealing with numerous injuries, he also thinks this is their golden chance to make a championship run since the Kansas City Chiefs are out of the picture.
“Josh has got a great opportunity to — this is the game for him,” Brady said. “There’s a lot of career-defining games for quarterbacks.”
The Bills and Broncos kick off Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Whoever wins will play the Patriots or Houston Texans for the AFC crown.
