“Sunday Night Football” viewers likely noticed that something seemed off with NBC Sports analyst Rodney Harrison during the pregame segment ahead of the Week 13 contest between the Denver Broncos and Washington Commanders.

It turns out that there’s a reasonable explanation for the New England Patriots legend’s struggles.

“I was exhausted working on a few hours of sleep watching my son play Saturday night. I had 3 hours of sleep on Sunday and had to work all day,” Harrison told MassLive via text. “I was suffering from exhaustion. But I’m good.”

The Patriots Hall of Fame safety has two sons playing Division I football — University of Cincinnati safety Christian Harrison and Wofford College cornerback R.J. Harrison.

MassLive’s Karen Guregian noted that the 52-year-old has been “back and forth from the east coast to the west coast and back trying to get to their games” this season.

With Christian’s Bearcats playing vs. TCU in Fort Worth on Saturday night, the elder Harrison went from Texas to Washington D.C. ahead of Sunday’s primetime matchup.

After watching the two-time Super Bowl champion’s freeze-up on Sunday, fans should be relieved to hear Harrison’s explanation.
